Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

If you are anything like me, you are always buying bananas and as much as you try to eat them all, you still have some that over-ripen. I have tried many recipes and I think I’ve got the perfect one down. If you like sweet banana bread, then this one is for you!


  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (soft but not melted)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 overripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips (any but I used semi-sweet chocolate chips)


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9″x5″ loaf pan. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, mix softened butter and brown sugar. Mix in vanilla extract, eggs, and mashed bananas until well blended.
  3. In a separate bowl combine dry ingredients – flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Combine into banana mixture making sure to not over-mix.
  5. Add chocolate chips and mix until well dispersed throughout.
  6. Pour batter into greased loaf pan.
  7. Bake for 60-65 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let cool and enjoy!
